If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well

Rozina Ali is a highly qualified aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon. Her expertise lies in all aspects of breast reconstruction &  aesthetics as well as surgical and non-surgical facial aesthetics. She is passionate about her work, facial beauty and Breast aesthetics are an extension of her love of Nature and Art.

Breast surgery represents the ability to sculpt tissues whilst facial aesthetics is the practice of Art on Nature’s canvas.

Rozina trained at St Thomas’ hospital Medical school, attained a 1st class Hons. degree in Anatomy which in turn lead to research into the effects of Leprosy on bones. She later spent 3 months working in a Leper Colony in Venezuela investigating the Ocular effects of leprosy for a World Health Organization pilot study.

With a yen for research, Rozina completed an M.D. study of antimicrobial peptides, based at the Centre for Cutaneous Research and funded by the North East Thames Burns Unit Association.

During her plastic Surgery training, Rozina attended the Inaugural meeting of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM) in Taiwan in 2001 and since then has been at the forefront of perforator flaps and microsurgery. She contributed to writing the manuscript of the first encyclopedia of perforator flaps during her 6-month tenure in Gent, Belgium.

Rozina is the only Briton to date to have been awarded the prestigious international Kroll scholarship and until recently was the only woman to have ever won this award. She was awarded a Craniofacial Fellowship at Great Ormond street hospital and soon after an International microsurgery fellowship at the world-renowned Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan.

Rozina worked within the NHS for 25 years, her NHS service includes 10 years as a reconstructive microsurgery consultant with a specialist interest in Breast and gynaecological reconstruction following cancer treatment. During this time she also had a successful practice in Gender alignment surgery.

Rozina has enjoyed being at the sharp end of innovation and within the aesthetics field has been an early pioneer of Fat transfer, the use of biodegradable matrices for breast work and using non-surgical therapies to enhance surgical facial aesthetics. Rozina recognizes that since ageing is a multifactorial ongoing sequence of events, treatment needs to be timely, multifactorial and ongoing to mitigate the process.

In the media

Rozina is perfectly suited to the specialty of aesthetic surgery, both as a meticulous microsurgeon and a perfectionist with an acute female aesthetic . As a woman ‘of colour’ herself she has a particular empathy and understanding of the difficulties associated with skin pigmentation and adverse scarring. Her skill, temperament and love of beauty, make her a rare commodity and Rozina has relished being able to excel on her own terms.

She has been celebrated in the media, presenting the BBC2 Horizon documentary ‘The Truth about Looking Younger’ and Channel 4’s prime time TV series ‘How not to get old’. She is forthright and thoughtful and shares her personal philosophy of aesthetic surgery in her TEDx talk. She has written for the Huffington Post, been featured in numerous magazines and journals and has a Wikipedia page devoted to her.

She has been recognised within her profession and in 2017 was profiled in the Centenary issue of Medical Woman. She has won numerous healthcare awards including the Muslim Power 100  Healthcare Excellence Award, the Private Healthcare awards ‘Best Aesthetic and Reconstructive surgeon- London, 2019’ and awarded “London’s leading Aesthetic Surgeon 2020” at the GHP Global Excellence awards.
