What kind of cosmetic surgery do you do?
Breast augmention, breast lifts, breast reduction, male breast corrections; upper and lower eye-lid surgery, face-lifts as well as tummy tucks, liposuction etc. In the NHS I specialise in genital reconstruction and this has lead to my interest in genital aesthetic surgeries such as labiaplasty.I'm proud to offer a range of very effective non-surgical rejuvenation techniques including HA fillers, Botox, Radiesse volumiser, fat injections (lipofilling), transdermal mesotherapy, Pelleve skin tightening, therapeutic Obagi Nu-Derm skin care and the judicious use of peels. What is your approach?
It's a partnership – plastic surgery is usually about improving quality of life rather than saving it or extending it. I listen carefully and try to understand what my patient really wants. I assess their body and tissues and am realistic about what can be achieved. If necessary, I will take time to help the patient improve any adverse lifestyle factors such as smoking or excess weight before offering surgery. I take a holistic, long-term view and I want to inspire my patient to improve in every area of their life.What is the recovery time?
Most patients are home the same day or occasionally the following day. I recommend they be guided by discomfort, not pain. Most people are back to light work or a desk-based job within a few days. Generally cosmetic surgery is not too painful, since it it usually only involves skin, soft tissue or fat. Simple painkillers (paracetamol, ibruprofen) will control most discomfort.What about scars?
Scars are inevitable. A scar will take 18 months to 2 years to heal fully. I use dressings on the scars to help them heal better and faster. I also advise lots of scar massage and sun protection. A plastic surgeon’s skill is in the placing and alignment of scars, such that the scar lies along the natural pull of the skin. If a patient is at risk of poor wound healing or problematic scars I will raise the subject at the initial consultation so that all eventualities can be discussed.What is it likely to cost?
